Summer racing is my favourite time of the year!

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

I've always been a fan of the warmer weather and when it comes to my racing, that's still the case. Getting ready to go racing in the summer just seems so much more enjoyable, the sun is shining and everyone just seems to much happier. I do most of my racing throughout the spring and summer, you can't beat being at the races with likeminded people, enjoying a drink and watching your horses run. What time of year do you prefer to go racing?

Spring & Summer or Autumn & Winter Racing?

  • Spring & Summer

  • Autumn & Winter

Over the last couple of weeks there has been 2 of horses run. Most recently we had our homebred Gone In Sixty make his long awaited return and he certainly didn't disappoint. He travelled strongly through his race at Market Rasen, turning in for home tracking the eventual winner and as we jumped the 2nd last, everyone was hoping he was going to go past. However after such a long time off the track, race fitness came into play and he was found wanting from the back of the last all the way home. He finished in a very creditable 3rd place, all of the team and his owners really are happy with his performance. The week previous we had Hiconic make her long awaited return to the course, again like Gone In Sixty we weren't expecting such a big run from her after such a long break. However she really took us all by surprise and not only ran a massive race, she went on to win quite nicely.

What is still to come this summer and what we are looking forward to!

As we look forward to the summer, as a club we have so much to be excited about. Hiconic, Solo Saxophone & Gone In Sixty have all had a run and will be out again soon but what has me really excited is our homebred 2yo's, Kohana Girl and Mr Phillips. Kohana Girl will be the first of those to run and being by Sioux Nation and out of our ex race mare Dandilion. Having been to watch her recent work on the gallops, I was very impressed at how well she moved and more importantly how quick she was. Mr Phillips was named after a long time supporter of our racing club passed away unexpectedly. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to a man who had spent so much time at the races with us and so much money supporting the club. He will be a backend 2yo who we expect to develop more as he gets older.

After listening to your recent feedback, I'm really happy to be able to offer you all the opportunity to become part of our racing club for just £9.99 a month. Yes you read that right, for £9.99 a month we are offering all new customers the chance to experience what we as racehorse owners sometimes take for granted, the racehorse ownership experience.
