Rob Edwards

Partner & Financial Director

Having grown up following horse racing through my influence of my Dad (well…that and Leyton Orient), it’s something that was always a part of my weekends. Having left school with average grades, I went straight to work for a small Accountancy firm in London due to my fondness of numbers (and money). From that point, I spent 15 years working as a finance professional in a number of roles, at multiple organisations from start-ups and SME’s, through to KPMG in London and Malaysia, and Bank of New York. The finance world introduced me a number of business opportunities in recruitment, FMCG, hospitality, Real Estate and cryptocurrency. More importantly, finance took me to the wine world, where my joint biggest and joint most expensive passion lies. I founded The Social Wine Co. Limited in 2016, and is where my efforts lie currently, and my love of racing encouraging me to start Equinox Racing in January 2018 alongside friend and fellow racing enthusiast Chris Bennett. The merger with The Golden Horse (to form Golden Equinox Racing) in July 2019, was the next big step for both clubs to take on some of the biggest players in the industry.

Carl Woods

Partner & Racing Manager

I've always dreamt of being a racehorse owner but as an outsider looking in, I never dreamed it was for a working class family man like myself. As you would only see wealthy and famous people in the parade ring and around the horses. So to be able to have owned multiple horses and have enjoyed multiple winners, it's been a dream come true for me so far. I have been involved racing as an owner/breeder now for the last 5 yrs, owning over 20 racehorses and running a successful racing club for the last 5 years also. My passion for the sport is always there, I love the sport, I love our horses and I love everything that comes with being a racehorse owner.

I have been involved with horses since I can remember at my uncles eventing yard starting to ride the ponies at 4 years old. I became interested in racing through my Father and his mates owning horses in the early eighties and ever since I have been totally hooked. Since becoming involved with the racing club over the past few years I have become passionate about finding the next winners for the club either through the sales or the breeding side of the club, studying pedigrees and bloodlines. I think there is no better feeling when you see a horse you are involved with run well and get in the winners enclosure. One of my best moments in racing was the evening at Wolverhampton when Sir Lancelot gave Adrian Nicholls his first winner as a trainer.
Outside of racing I like spending time with my family especially my two grandchildren and being part of their future.

Ross McNamara

Racing Club Ambassador

Growing up just outside of Chester I have always enjoyed a day at the races but never did I think it would be possible to experience everything that comes with owning a horse.

A runner in our silks and being in the parade ring before a feature race at my local track when Solo Saxophone ran in the Chester Cup is something I will never forget!

Having been a shareholder with the club since 2017 I am looking forward to enhancing the race day experience for all our shareholders and members and working closely with Rob, Carl and Steve to help the club develop and continue to move forwards.

This is a really exciting time for the club as our bloodstock develops and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Golden Equinox Racing.
