Solo Saxophone

8yo Gelding
Frankel - Society Hostess

Trained by Alex Hales

Solo Saxophone is sired by Frankel, who is one of the greatest horses to ever race and is now believed to be the best sire on the planet at the moment. He is out of Society Hostess, who herself was a listed winning mare having won in Ireland, Germany and America. The unbeaten Frankel was the highest-rated flat horse ever, to send a mare to be covered by Frankel will cost you £200,000 in 2022.

Solo Saxophone was the first ever winner by Frankel over hurdles, he is currently rated 130 over hurdles. He is a four-time winner, he ran really nicely in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 3) at Cheltenham in March 2018 at a good price, and was notably third in a big handicap at Aintree in May 2019. He was a maiden on the flat until he was 6 (having only ran 5 times), he was really unexposed on the level. Once we sent him to Ben Haslam, we quickly realised that there would be a lot of improvement on level with him, Solo went from 72 to 98 on the flat.

Currently in training with Alex Hales at his amazing yard in Edgcote.

As dual purpose horses go, Solo Saxophone is certainly one of the best in training at the moment. He has took his shareholders to some of the biggest meetings in the UK, like the Cheltenham Festival, Royal Ascot, Aintree and York.

5yo Mare

Sixties Icon - Hi Note

Trained by Alex Hales

Hiconic is a filly by Sixties Icon and out of an Acclamation mare called Hi Note, who was a multiple winner in her own right.

Hiconic was claimed in August 2019 because she caught Alex Hales’ eye with her run and mainly her pedigree, as her dam has had some nice jumpers. We where very lucky to get her on the day as she was in demand.

Since we purchased Hiconic she has gone on to win 4 races on the spin from just 7 starts over hurdles and she got herself some placed black type as well. In 2020 she was spoken about as the best juvenile hurdler that summer, which was an amazing feeling for a club like ours.

Hiconic suffered a set back in 2021 so we gave her all the time she needed to come back to herself and so far so good, she is now doing 2 canters up the big hill at Alex Hales' yard.

She is still unexposed when it comes to hurdles and we still haven't got to the bottom of her ability yet. So 2022 could be an exciting year for our superstar filly.

Gone In Sixty

Sixties Icon - Gib
5yo Gelding

Trained by Alex Hales

Gone In Sixty is by Sixties Icon, and out of our own mare Gib. Sixties Icon is a prolific sire, and in his racing day was a high class middle distance racer, winning the St Leger in 2006. Gone In Sixty is a specimen of a horse and a real picture to look at.

Having made his belated debut on the 18th May 2002, he confirmed to us what we had know all along, that he certainly has ability. He finished 2nd and was only beaten by a well fancied Dan Skelton horse who was race fit from running in point to points.

Bated Breath - Rapid Recruit
4yo Filly

Trained by Alex Hales

While in attendance at the Silver Yearling Sale in 2019 we viewed lot 488, a Bated Breath filly. When we got her out of her box she held herself really well, she trotted up really nicely and really looked the part. When trotting her up and down you could see how well she moved and that impressed me. All in all she was a superb looking filly.

She is by Bated Breath and out of Rapid Recruit. Her half-brother is the very talented Rapid Russo, who has won a maiden and is a highly-rated sprinter.

We have taken our time with her but we now feel that 2022 will be the year see the very best from her. Those feelings where justified when she won at Kempton on the 6th April 2022.

Dansili - Lunar Phase
6yo Gelding

Trained by Amy Murphy

Dynali is by Dansili, who has sired some outstanding horses. Those right at the top of the list are Harbinger, Bated Breath and The Fugue.

Lunar Phase is a new mare, and has produced just one runner, the mighty dual-purpose horse Stratum, to which Dynali is a full brother!

He is a really consistent dual purpose horse, having already won on the level and having gone really close over hurdles, it's only a matter of time before he breaks his maiden over jumps.

Compton Place - Red Mischief
6yo Gelding

Trained by Ivan Furtado

Carl & Steve went to view Straitouttacompton as a 2 year old in Newmarket. He was a huge raw horse but the way he walked and trotted was visually impressive. He is closely related to a couple of really nice horses on his dam’s side. One of those was a 96-rated horse called Waqaas. His other sibling is called Rockies Spirit, who has reached a rating of 86.

Straitouttacompton is by Compton Place, and out of the mare Red Mischief.

Now a 5 time winner for our clients from just 27 starts, he has become one of our most successful horse's, having racked up 3 wins on the spin in 2020. We still believe he's not reached the height of his ability, so it will be nice to see him progress further as the years goes on.

Carmela Soprano

Hellvelyn - Caramelita
4yo Filly

Trained by John Jenkins

When it comes to this filly, I'm completely biased as this is the first horse we have bred and I was there the morning she was foaled.

She is by Hellvelyn and out of our very own mare Caramelita, who has made a great start as a broodmare. Hellvelyn was a high-class sprinter most noted for winning the Coventry Stakes at Ascot. As a sire, he has produced some fantastic horses, most notably, Mrs Danvers.

She is in training with John Jenkins who is the trainer of Chloellie, and previously, Caramelita and her dam, Apple Of My Eye. He therefore knows the family inside out.

She has won at 40/1 for us and has gone really close in a lot of races for us. She is a consistent handicapper and I'm sure will give her owners lots of fun over the coming years.
